Demuredin was formed in late October, 2005 from the ashes of local “nu-metal? act Ragedy (sound influenced by Mudvayne, KoRn, Slipknot, Lamb of God, etc…). Drummer, Dustin Cox, branched outward and recruited the help of Ragedy’s last bassist, Brett Charlet, to form the unnamed group which in turn became Demuredin. Charlet converted back to his primary instrument, guitar for this project. Cox and Charlet’s musical taste led them to the common ground of melodic metal music, both sharing liking of groups such as In Flames, Soilwork, Lamb of God, and other melodic death metal groups. The two founders of Demuredin went through various singers and rhythm guitar players to find the right chemistry and musical common ground among the aspiring members. After the once-was two piece band recruited Travis Pavur as the bands new rhythm guitar player and Colorado bassist, Richy Dull the band went on to gig locally around the Mandeville/New Orleans area. The band’s first show was hosted by a local venue’s battle of the bands where Demuredin took home three individual prizes of Best Overall Act, Best Lead Guitar, and Best Drummer. After going through several singers the band recruited vocalist, Brian Fontaine as their new front man (formally of local Mandeville act, Tribal Law and Take’em Down) The band continued to gig locally to build a local fan base and searched for a place to record, which in turn led to recording at Pavur’s home studio for their self-produced demo CD. The band has been playing various shows up to this date ranging from anywhere from the Mandeville area to Houma, Louisiana and the Baton Rogue area and now branching out as far as Missiouri. As of late Demuredin gained a large enough fan base locally to open for Metal Blade's Cattle Decapitation and Roadrunner Record's Daath at a venue in their hometown; selling their self-produced demo and t-shirts.
