This event was to provoke [independent] thought, and creativity. Santa Cruz Chalked-Up is on the third Saturday in August every year.....
[ [ [ Special thanks to everyone that brought their own chalk ] ] ]

Chalk is made out of Calcium Carbonate and is completely harmless to the environment. It is REALLY easy to wash off or simply wears away after a short time [remember its just chalk] I am willing to discuss the damage [if any] and pay for the Clean-Up on some of the downtown properties [my contact info is below]
Those who made it out to the event [even stated by a local police officer] will tell you only a small percent of what was written was obfensive, demining, derogatory, sexual or drug related. The people that only mention all of the negative stuff, only focus on the negative.
This was a community event.......Though there has been a lot of controversy. I am happy to see it has stimulate conversations, encouraged debate and discussion on some of the key issues we have faced in 2008
If Santa Cruz Chalked-Up happens next year, some of the local businesses are talking about handing out chalk, they feel it may bring more people into their business.
